In March I flew to Canada for the second time for quite a different experience. The first trip was during summer 2013 after 6 months travelling, I spent the few weeks I was there road tripping from Vancouver to Calgary and back exploring the mountains and incredible blue lakes covered by the sun. This time, it was a winter experience and it couldn’t have been more different. As soon as I left the airport, it was freezing. Vancouver is known for its rain and it did not disappoint. We spent the first week exploring the city day and night watching sunsets over the city from Stanley Park, walking round Granville Island and my favorite place, Gastown. People watching in Gastown became my favorite thing to do that week.

During middle week, we decided to hire a car and road trip to Whistler to explore more of the snowy mountains and the peak2peak gondola. The best part about the trip was stopping along the way to discover new places. I remember the first place we decided to stop was Murrin Provincial Park which was completely empty, no one around so perfect for photos. It soon became clear this was the case at pretty much all our stops. We also stopped at Porteau Cover provincial park, Alice lake (a favourite) squamish and One mile lake. Each one had the most incredible scenery, frozen lakes surrounded by fog, forests and mountains. Couldn't waste the opportunity to stand on a frozen lake.. Risky but worth it!

The final week was spent exploring more of Vancouver including one of my favorite places in the world, Grouse mountain. It was a complete contrast to my previous visit there, this time the bears were in hibernation (gutted) the grass was nowhere to be seen, just pure white snow but the view remained incredible as ever. As the trip was coming to an end, we couldn’t resist another trip to Stanley Park whilst the sun was out. Discovering Beaver Lake in the middle of the park was fun but unfortunately, no beavers. The final day was spent wondering around the city discovering parts we hadn’t seen yet.
